Toy Soldiers 2020 musings

So I'm reviving this thing once again, nearly a year to the day after I revived it for one post after another year... I'm not particularly on top of things I'm largely using this as a vehicle to motivate/have a public record for my goals for the end of this year with regards to toy soldiers This year has been a bit of a mess with regard to both free time and free money. Getting married/ applying for mortgages really takes it out of you. Its meant that I had to roll back a few of the things I wanted to get done last year and kick them upfield a bit. Painting: As far as painting goes, I had an ok year. Got a 3rd place painting trophy for a model I was reasonably happy with when it was finished but I'd never intended to enter into a competition or anything. I'd pretty much decided I wasnt entering anything as I just wasn't happy with the things I was finishing, but I asked my (then) 2 year old if I should try and win a trophy and she said yes, so I let her

Hey, I remember this thing

Deciding to revitalize this once again as I may have forgotten about it... for a year. But I'm busy and lay off with your pressure So anyways, looking over my last post, I believe I haven't painted a single thing I said I would, so that's good. Distracted by all sorts of things in the model painting world. I've largely refocused my efforts onto Age of Sigmar as fantasy was always my first miniatures love. As much as I like the death guard for 40k, I'm just not as enthused about painting them. Although on that score things are going ok - ish. And by that I mean I have 10 plaguebearers to go before I get to 30, and I'll likely not go further than that. They're a bit monotonous to paint. My daemon component is looking pretty cool if I say so myself. Need to get one of the bigger guys to really feel like its progressing though I actually think I've progressed a lot in the last while so 10 of these are a lot better than the other 10, and am hopin

Chapter 2: SNOW DAYS!

Completely snowed in, meaning I've been unable to go to work (I'm devastated somewhere... deep ...deep down). This means the unthinkable has happened; I've actually painted things. The amount of stuff sitting on my desk half way painted has been annoying me recently, so I decided to get that all out of the way before getting started on anything else. meaning I actually made some progress on my Death Guard/ Nurgle army for the first time in months. On the sadder side, my new airbrush hasnt arrived yet, so I had to do everything with a paintbrush, with my dodgy handy, meaning they're messy as all fuck. But models have paint on them and I'll call it a win.. Horticulous Slimux on his snail is a pretty fantastic model though, and I may repaint him less shit at some point. He's game playable now though. Ready to cut some heads off with his giant shears Unfortunately these are all the small daemons :( Also primed stuff like mad while I was stuck indoors, 44 cult

Chapter 1: Paint Necromancy

Image
Considering I spend all my free time these days painting/spending money on things to paint, I decided to create this so I can ramble on without clogging up peoples Facebook stories with a load of shite that they don't care about. Now it will only be one post from this blog that they don't care about. #topmate. Mostly its just a way of keeping track of whats on my painting table and being able to refer back and judge myself on not getting anything done So I've joined the ranks of airbrush enthusiasts recently, and have decided to remedy a terrible issue with GW paints. They're in a stupid pot and the designer is a communist. How am I meant to get it in there? You'd think they'd have overcome this problem by now... Amazon came to the rescue with a load of really cheap dropper bottles. They've been sitting in a drawer for months, periodically being stolen by my daughter to chew on. Today, given that I had some free time at last, I decided to tackle thi
